The Creative Soul Behind the Work

Life has taken me on a journey filled with twists, challenges, and incredible discoveries. As a native of the Pacific Northwest, my fascination with crows and ravens sparked a lifelong passion for animals, creativity, and finding beauty in unexpected places.

From studying primates and working as a veterinary assistant to facing life-altering health challenges, I’ve learned to embrace resilience and reinvention. Through painting, drawing and creating, I’ve found healing, purpose, and a way to express my love for the darker, spookier aesthetics that have always inspired me. My story is one of perseverance, creativity, and uncovering light in the shadows.

Finding Light in the Shadows:
My Journey Through Darkness, Creativity, and Resilience

While other kids chased crows, I wanted to befriend them. This love for animals led me to study Primate Studies, work with chimpanzees, and become a veterinary assistant—a role I loved. But life took a turn when I was diagnosed with two different cancers, CLL and Thymoma. After two surgeries, I had to leave the work I loved and transitioned to a desk job for six years.

During the pandemic, painting became my creative lifeline. Later, a breast cancer diagnosis led me to yoga as another form of healing. Last April, I left my job to care for my dying mother, and through it all, art and meditation remained my anchors. I've always embraced the darker side—fashion, music, décor, and all things spooky—reflected in both my gothic-inspired art and meditation and spiritual practice. I believe there is profound beauty in darkness, and painting and meditation have been my light through life’s most challenging moments.
